About NHCDA

A U.S.-based public charity working hand in hand with rural communities in Northwest Haiti.

Who we are

NHCDA is dedicated to supporting underserved rural communities in Northwest Haiti through sustainable, community-centered development.

We believe that lasting progress begins by recognizing the strengths of local communities, listening to their priorities, and working collaboratively to expand opportunities for individuals and families.

Mission / Vision

Mission

To support underserved rural communities in Northwest Haiti through sustainable initiatives that strengthen food security, access to essential services, education, economic opportunity, and community resilience.

Vision

A Northwest Haiti where rural communities have the resources, opportunities, knowledge, and capacity to build sustainable futures for themselves and future generations.

Our story

NHCDA was established in 2026 with a vision of building an organization capable of supporting long-term community development in Northwest Haiti.

Our foundation reflects a commitment to addressing interconnected challenges affecting rural communities, including food insecurity, limited access to essential resources, educational and economic barriers, and vulnerability to natural disasters.

Rather than focusing exclusively on short-term assistance, NHCDA seeks to encourage community participation, strengthen local capacity, and develop initiatives that support lasting improvements in quality of life.

In July 2026, NHCDA was incorporated in the District of Columbia. In August 2026, the organization received federal recognition of its tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3).

As we build our institutional capacity, we remain committed to responsible governance, transparent operations, and partnerships rooted in respect for the communities we seek to serve.
